Availability of Funds for Project Year 2010

As the State Agency for adult and career & technical (CTE) education, GCC is inviting eligible providers to submit a proposal to implement adult or CTE educational programs that lead to a certificate or degree. These proposals should introduce innovative activities to strengthen adult (Basic Skills, English as a Second Language, GED, Adult High) or career and technical education programs through federal funds (Workforce Investment Act, Title II and Carl D. Perkins). Proposals must be received at the State Agency Office (Student Services and Administrative Building, room 2209/2208) by April 15, 2010. The GCC Financial Aid Office is accepting applications for the following scholarships:

Laguna Association of Guam Scholarship

Western Visayas College of Science & Technology Alumni Association Scholarship

First Hawaiian Bank/Guam Business Businesswoman of the Year Scholarship - Deadline to submit: July 31, 2010. Education major Chelsea Ulloa was awarded a $2,200 scholarship for Spring Semester 2010 by the Businesswoman of the Year Scholarship Program! Click on the scholarship name to download the application or pick up an application at the GCC Financial Aid Office located at the Student Services & Admin. Bldg. CCESS Tutoring now available

Center for Civic Engagement & Student Success (CCE&SS) one-on-one tutoring is offered at the GCC Library every weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Specialized Math Peer Tutoring is now offered in the Allied Health Center, Science Faculty Office, Room 3127, Monday to Thursday between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

GW wins GCC ProStart 2010 Island Competition

For the second year in a row, GCC's George Washington High School ProStart team will represent Guam at the Ninth Annual National ProStart Invitational, to be held in Overland Park, Kansas, from April 30 – May 2. Congratulations to captain Charmaine Eusebio and teammates Jhorge Gonzales, Vicenta Mendiola, and Albert Caliyo, and to the teams from Simon Sanchez, JFK, and Southern high schools for an outstanding competition! Last year, the GW ProStart team placed 4th in the national competition, and was featured prominently on the Food Network special, “Guy Fieri’s Top of the Class,” in December. GCC now offers on-line Radon Certification classes

 

GCC is now offering on-line Radon National Measurement and Mitigation Certification courses, including a Guam-specific section. The cost for the Radon Measurement course is $345. The cost of both courses – Radon Measurement and Radon Mitigation - is a total of $750. The class will be offered on-line through CERTI, the Center for Environmental Research and Technology, with a two-day, hands-on component taught on the Mangilao campus.
